Wallpaper is a versatile and creative option to completely transform the look of an interior space. Not only does wallpaper add a unique aesthetic touch to a room, it also offers the opportunity to express personality, style and creativity in a way that conventional paint can't match.
In this article, we will teach you step-by-step practical tips for successful wallpaper installation.
1. Prepare your wall.
Make sure the wall is smooth, clean and dry. Wipe with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt, making it easier for the wallpaper to adhere easily. If necessary, putty nail holes and use a screwdriver to remove light switch plates and hardware.
2. Prepare your wallpaper.
It is important to organize the order in which the panels will be placed on the floor (or on the wall, using masking tape to help secure the wallpaper) and make sure that the design is continuous, considering that each panel has an overlap of 2.5 to 5 cm. All wallpaper installation always starts from left to right in a progressive manner.
2. Unroll and glue.
Next, after arranging the orientation of the panels, unfold them on the floor and apply glue (Metylan) on the back. Let it sit for a few minutes and begin placing the first panel on your wall.
Note: You must leave a 2.5 cm tab, both at the top and on the left side.
On the right side of the first panel, you place the second panel 2.5 cm above the previous one (this is called overlap), seeking continuity of the design as you did on the floor.
Continue this process until you finish your wall design.
3. Softens.
During installation, remove any air bubbles by pressing lightly from the center of the paper towards the edges with your hands. Then firm it up with a spatula to smooth it more precisely.
4. Trim off excess.
Use a utility knife and ruler to trim off the excess 1 inch of paper at the top and bottom of the wall.  Leftover wallpaper can be applied to any smooth, flat surface, so you can use any leftovers to decorate mirrors, cabinets, furniture and more!
AND READY!
